2020 was the year of hair for me for real. I’m not saying I didn’t take care of my hair until 2020, I just feel like I’ve learned what my hair really loves this past year. I’ve also practiced how to actually style my hair, something I loathed for so long. A little back story, I have always colored my hair and have pretty much always had damage. I have an amazing hair dresser who I credit for keeping my hair healthy but all that changed when California went on lock down. I haven’t been in to get my hair done many times this year so I had to take things into my own hands!
The Best Shampoo’s & Conditioners
I’ve spent a pretty penny on shampoos and conditioners in the past. This year I took a step back and opted for products I’ve had luck with. Nature Lab Tokyo is one of the brands. They are affordable and my hair does really well with their products, not just shampoo and conditioner. I rarely like shampoo and conditioner teams…sounds funny, but it’s true. I either love the shampoo or the conditioner, and not often both. This year I actually found a few sets that compliment each other really well and work for my hair. I also discovered scalp exfoliation and let me tell you, it’s game changing!
The Best Treatments
I don’t use too many products and hardly ever use hairsprays or holding products. I’ve fallen in love with oils this year and am happy I found ones that don’t weigh my hair down or make my hair look greasy. My favorite oil purchase this year is hands down the Verb Ghost Oil. I had eyed it for so long and finally took the plunge.
The Best Hair Masks
I wash my hair every other day typically and use a mask ever other wash. Masks use to leave my hair weighed down and heavy but since finding masks that actually work well with my hair, I’m happier than ever. The Quai mask is probably my favorite mask this year. It smells heavenly and leaves my hair just like when I leave the salon.
The Best Hair Tools
I attended a virtual hair event put on by Dyson and found out I was using the wrong brushes for my hair. Since switching to the Dyson comb and paddle bush my hair has never been better. I’ve seen less breakage and fallout. I’ve always kind of sucked at doing my hair so the Beachwaver helps big time. I get the beachy waves I want and the tool is super easy to use. You’re only as good as your tools, right??!

I think in 2020 we have all learnt something that we didn’t know before. For me it had to be self care ❤️
