The husband and I planned a weekend getaway to San Jose for my birthday since I’ve been wanting to go for forever! Exploring San Jose for the weekend turned out to be a really nice trip!
The husband booked our short flight through Expedia. We scored Alaska as our airline. We both love flying with Alaska! Our flight is only about 45 minutes too, which is the best! I already knew I wanted to see The Winchester Mystery House, but we left everything else pretty open.
We got to San Jose early on a Friday morning and took to Yelp to find a breakfast spot and something to do before our tour times at The Winchester Mystery House (another attraction I highly recommend!).
The husband picked Bill’s Cafe for breakfast since the reviews were awesome. It was packed! We both really enjoyed our omelets and pancakes! We both ordered the California Omelette and I got an Oreo pancake while he opted for the Hawaiian pancake. I couldn’t finish my plates, but he did!

After breakfast, we decided to head over to the San Jose Municipal Rose Garden. My husband had seen it online before we left and thought it would be something we’d like to check out. He was right! I loved it! It was honestly one of my favorite stops on our trip!

There’s no parking lot, but plenty of street parking. Think one big park in the middle of a neighborhood. There were people out jogging and walking their dogs and the neighborhood seems really nice!
The second you walk through the gates you can smell the roses! I love roses and their scent, so I was in heaven. The park itself is five and a half acres, but easy to walk through. There’s a big fountain in the center and it’s perfect for a photo op!
The Rose Garden boasts nearly 4000 roses and over 250 different varieties! I took so many pictures and loved seeing all the different types of roses. I didn’t know some of the colors existed.

I would highly recommend visiting the Municipal Rose Garden if you’re in the San Jose area. You can picnic or just stop and smell the roses! Also, Bill’s Cafe was wonderful and I believe they have a few different locations in the area in case you wanted some yummy breakfast!
I’m looking forward to another trip to the San Jose area soon because there was so much more we wanted to see!
