The husband and I made the switch to natural deodorant in early January. I wrote about the first week or so experience, so I thought it was time for an update!
I’m still using the same tube of Daggers & Diamonds, and haven’t had to open a new one yet. My husband is still on his first tube. as well.
This surprised me since the deodorant is soft and melts easy. I would think we would have had to open another tube by now because I feel like we use more. The deodorant itself is a lot softer than tradition store-bought deodorants because of the all natural ingredients.
I’m pretty happy that we aren’t having to replace them as often as I originally thought. American Provenance cost a little more than the store bought deodorants we were using before, so I’m glad we aren’t using them up quicker.

Now for the detox stories…
My husband had to stop using the deodorant recently since it started to make his underarms peel. He’s experienced some discomfort recently as well. He is going to wait for his skin to heel to start using it again. We are thinking a few more days. Luckily the research I’ve done says that this can be a normal part of the detox period.
I started to experience some discomfort in my left underarm, but it didn’t last more than a day. My discomfort could have been caused by the shirt I was wearing. The cut and fabric were a bit odd. I’m not sure if it was detox I was experiencing, or just an off outfit day. Other than that, we both agree that we are happy with the switch.
I haven’t noticed any difference in sweating or smell. The American Provenance deodorant has kept my underarms dry and odorless from what I can tell. My husband agrees.
We are both going to keep using theAmerican Provenance since we bought the four pack. We both have at least a tube and a half to use up before we think of trying another brand. I honestly think we will stick with American Provenance because we love supporting small business and the product seems to work well.
I was a bit scared to switch over to an all natural deodorant at first. Now, I know it was silly to be afraid! The “detox” period has been really easy on me, my husband not so much. The hardest part it over though, and now we can happily use a product that is overall better for us!
This is interesting. I’ve always thought natural deodorants won’t keep me odorless for a longer time than not natural ones. And here a surprise! I think I’ll try to find some (:
Nope, they work just as well if you find the right one! I was lucky and the first one I tried worked for me!!
I will look for the best one for me then 😊
