It’s really no secret that I’m a lover of Korean beauty and sunscreen. I preach about the importance of sunscreen all the time and I’m always up for trying new Korean beauty products. Mix the two together and we have a match made in heaven!
I’ve been preferring Korean sunscreen products over others this last year. There are several reasons, but mainly it’s because they work well under my makeup and tend to be super lightweight. I also prefer Korean sunscreens because they add extra skin loving ingredients to their sunscreens whereas traditional Western products leave anything extra out.
The super generous team over at Althea Korea sent me their new Petal Velvet Sunaway to test and try out. I’m already a huge fan of their Petal Velvet Powders, so I somewhat already knew this would be a winner for me.
First Impression
Honestly, I wasn’t impressed when I first tried a bit of the Petal Velvet Sunaway on the back of my hand. I thought it would leave a white cast and all my excitement for the product went down the drain. I’m a team player though, and tested it under my makeup the next morning. My first impression was a fluke and probably error on my end because it didn’t leave a white cast and absorbed very well into my skin. My makeup layered beautiful over it and even my morning skincare sat nicely under it. I didn’t experience any piling or patches. It didn’t feel heavy or greasy at all. My foundation applied smoothly and evenly without any trouble.
Key Ingredients
The key ingredients are what really excited me about trying the Petal Velvet Sunaway. It contains Damask Rose that aids in hydration and has soothing properties, Hyaluronic Acid that attracts moisture to the skin and prevents dehydration and Geranium Oil that has healing properties and leaves skin with a radiant boost.

Yay or Nay?
It’s a big YAY from me. I love the Petal Velvet Sunaway and am so glad that my first impression was completely wrong. I probably didn’t allow it to absorb all the way or I applied too much to the back of my hand. I’m a total lover of the Petal Velvet line and this is such a welcoming addition. At $10 for 55 ml. it’s not going to break the bank, and can easily. be justified. I really like how lightweight it is and that there is little to no fragrance. This will be a repurchase for sure and I love that Althea Korea always has specials and sales!
