Blue Apron

We may earn money or products from the companies mentioned in this post.

A friend of mine signed up for a meal delivery subscription service called Blue Apron, and gave me a code to use for a free box. I opted for the 2 person plan which is normally $59.94 a week ($9.99 per serving) for three different meals. Once you sign up, you’re on auto delivery.  You can skip weeks very easily from their app and I believe you have to contact them if you wish to cancel. They have a family plan as well that feeds four people.
We cook just about every night, and rarely eat takeout. This was right up our alley and I’m so thankful for the trial run!
We both work in the food industry and were pretty hesitant about how the food would be delivered and the freshness of the products. I have to say, we were surprised at how well everything was packed inside the insulated box! The quality of the products was really good too, so it was an all around win!
We received three different meals
• Beef tacos and radish salsa
• Orange and miring-glazed cod
• West African peanut chicken
The meals came with all the ingredients you’ll need to prepare, except for olive oil, salt and pepper. The instructions make it super easy to follow, and the dishes come out tasting great!
All in all, I think this is an awesome subscription for just about anyone. If you eat out a lot and want to try eating in more, this is for you! If you are looking for something to do with a roommate or spouse, this is totally fun and something you can do together. It’s fun, easy, and you’ll most likely be trying something new!
The con’s included how many dishes I had to dirty to make one of the recipes, and some of them had too many steps. It was easy to follow along, and we had no problem doing so, it was just never ending. The cost is a big con for me too, since we shop sales on a weekly basis. I’m almost certain none of our meals cost $9.99 per serving, but we also don’t make these types of recipes.
We might subscribe again in the next few weeks just because the recipes were really unique and we both enjoyed preparing food we typically don’t eat.
