I subscribed to the Sephora Play! box the second it opened up for me, which was May of last year. I have yet to be disappointed in a box, even though some of the reviews are less than favorable.
Sephora Play! is like a lot of the other monthly subscription boxes. It’s $10 + tax a month, just like Birchbox and Ipsy. Mine comes out to be $10.78 every month.
Each box comes with 6 samples, 5 being makeup or skincare and 1 is perfume. Sometimes the samples are deluxe size, which is really nice!
I like Sephora Play! because all the samples are of higher end products sold at Sephora. I also like that every box comes with a card you can use on your next in store purchase for 50 extra points towards your Beauty Insider account. It seems as though they switch up the samples every month, because I haven’t received any duplicates or even similar items.
This month I got a sample of the new Tory Burch Love Relentlessly perfume, Tarte Frixxxtion Stick Exfoliating Cleanser, Farmacy Honey Potion Renewing Mask with Echinacea, Quai Treatment Mask, Amore Pacific Color Control Cushion Compact Broad Spectrum SPF 50+, and Clinique Almost Lipstick.
I really enjoy receiving perfume samples because I am boring with my scents, and never really branch out and try new products. I love Tory Burch perfumes, and this one is really nice.
The Tarte Frixxxtion Stick is my favorite out of this months box! I’ve been hearing so many good things about this product, and the Tarte skincare line in general. This product is really exfoliating, and left my face super soft. I’ve only used it a few times, but will most likely be buying the full size once my sample runs out. I have combo skin, and tend to get dry in the winter, but this didn’t dry me out at all.
The Farmacy Honey Potion mask feels like heaven for your face! I’ve used it once, and I really like the smell and texture. I felt like my face was brighter and softer after using it! I’m thinking I’ll end up buying the full size of this baby too.
The Quai Hair Treatment, Amore Cushion Compact, and Clinique Lipstick I have yet to try. The Clinique Almost Lipstick arrived damaged, so I won’t be able to try it unfortunately. Sephora’s customer care took care of me and added 100 points to my Beauty Insider account for the trouble because they were unable to replace the product.
